Strategic Communications and Messaging Online Intensive

This 2 x 3.5-hour (2 mornings) Zoom intensive gives people from the not-for-profit sector and the ‘for-purpose sector’ a chance to develop their knowledge and skills to create winning messages for their campaigns and communications.

The strategic communications and Messaging Intensive takes participants through the latest research from cognitive linguistics and psychology fields and some practical tools to develop communications that win.

Landing the Job: Resumes, Cover Letters, Applications and Interview Preparation

This training is designed to guide participants through the key steps of applying for a job, from understanding job descriptions to preparing a solid resume, writing a compelling cover letter, successfully submitting applications and mastering the interview process.

Effective Media Engagement for Advocacy

An interactive and practical 2-morning x 3.5 hours workshop on communications and working with the media, with a specific focus on:

  • creating media interest in behaviour change campaigns
  • translating policy and research into meaningful media coverage that progresses advocacy priorities.

The workshops will cover strategies for engaging with the media to generate helpful media coverage to achieve policy/advocacy or behaviour change objectives. Participants will gain insight into their point of difference in a cluttered media and campaign environment and a sense of how to communicate that to the public through a positive media presence.

Through sessions with an experienced journalist and a seasoned media advocate, the workshop provide insider insights on topics such as what makes a good media story. It will also provide practical exercises and training on pitching media stories, speaking to journalists and appearing in the media, including delivering key messages and dealing with difficult questions.

Policy and Advocacy Intensive: Online Flexible Learning

Join our Policy and Advocacy Intensive: Online Flexible Learning, delivered online, to ensure accessibility for participants across Australia. This comprehensive course is designed for individuals in the for-purpose sector eager to develop the critical skills needed to navigate policy and political processes and drive impactful change.

Course Highlights:

  • Flexible Learning: A 5-week self-paced course allows you to learn at your convenience and pace.
  • Weekly Modules: For four weeks, a new module will be released every Monday, packed with essential knowledge and practical insights.
  • Interactive Session: In the fifth week, you can participate in a 90-minute live session with an experienced facilitator to help you understand and address any questions. This will be online on Zoom.
  • Community Engagement: Optional group chat to connect with like-minded peers and expand your network. This will be via Zoom Chat, and you will be invited with a link.

Policy Writing: Developing compelling submissions

Drafting policy submissions is a key part of the work of not-for-profit individuals and organisations. This two-and-a-half-hour online workshop will explore how to prepare, approach and develop policy submissions.

The workshop will draw on case studies and examples from across the not-for-profit sector created by organisations for the purposes of systemic advocacy. It will also include tips, tools, and resources for achieving the best outcome for you and your organisation.

This session is facilitated live across two sessions. It allows people from the not-for-profit sector across Australia to work alongside like-minded individuals to develop the critical skills required to navigate policy and political processes and make change happen.

The session will also be available as a recording for people who cannot attend one or both sessions.
